Bulls roar in TN’s Avaniyapuram as first among 3 major Jallikattu bull taming sporting events begins

The traditional bull-taming sport kicked off in Madurai for Pongal 2026, featuring about 550 tamers and nearly 1,100 bulls over three days. The event, inaugurated by Minister P Moorthi, will conclude at Palamedu and Alanganallur on January 16 and 17, with prizes including a car and tractor. Participants underwent health screenings, ensuring animal welfare.
