₹53k fine on Chhattisgarh officer for emptying reservoir over phone
Rajesh Kumar Vishwas, a food inspector who drained an irrigation reservoir in Chhattisgarh to retrieve his phone, has been fined INR53,092 ($750) by the state's irrigation department. He was fined for illegally evacuating water using diesel pumps and for wasting the water for his personal interest. A show cause notice has been issued to the officer who allegedly gave him permission to drain the water.
