‘Our personal loss, not of ideology’: BJP's CT Ravi on losing Chikkamaguluru
BJP's four time MLA CT Ravi is a four-time MLA from this assembly constituency located near western ghats.
Former BJP minister and four time MLA CT Ravi has lost an election to the Congress' HD Thimmaiah, in the final counting by the election commission. The Congress' candidates HD Thimmaiah managed to get a majority of rougly 9000 votes and defeated Ravi.

According to the EC final data, CT Ravi has got 55,678 votes with an vote share of 44.73 per cent. However, the Congress candidate HD Thimmaiah got 64,552 votes with the vote share of 51.86 per cent. CT Ravi won from this assembly seat in 2004, 2008, 2013 and 2018. Chikkamagulru was once a Congress bastion and former PM Indira Gandhi even won a Lok Sabha seat from this region in 1978.
The BJP leader, however, accepeted the defeat and tweeted, “I accept my loss in the assembly elections. I wholeheartedly thank@BJP4Chikmagalur Karyakartas and the people of Chikkamagaluru for their support to me all these years. I congratulate all the winning candidates and wish them the very best in the coming days.”
He also told that it is a personal loss but not the loss of ideology. “Today's loss in the assembly elections is our personal loss and not that of our ideology. We will introspect in the coming days and rectify our mistakes. Our efforts to build a Suvarna Karnataka will continue. I thank Kannadigas for all the support extended to us.”

The Congress is set to form the government, all alone as it won the decisive mandate of the people. The magic figure to form the government in Karnataka is 113 seats. The state also saw a voter turnout of 73.16 per cent on Wednesday polling.
