4 booked for incorrect death record, official suspended in Karnataka

The Belagavi deputy commissioner suspended village accountant Neela Muragod after the Lokayukta registered a case against her and three other officials for falsely certifying a living farmer, Irappa Nagappa Abbai, as dead. This error, resulting in a fraudulent death certificate, deprived Abbai of government benefits. An inquiry into the matter is underway.
