MSC Elsa III owners deposit <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>1227 cr in Kerala HC for release of sister vessel

The owners of MSC ELSA III have deposited Rs 1,227.62 crore in the Kerala High Court to secure the release of its sister vessel, MSC Akiteta II, following its sinking and severe pollution off the Kerala coast. The court initially ordered a higher security amount of Rs 9,531 crore after the vessel sank on May 25, 2022, causing extensive environmental damage and economic loss to local fishermen.
