According to legend, Lepakshi is believed to be the spot where the mythical vulture Jatayu landed after sustaining severe injuries while trying to rescue Sita from the demon king Ravana, who had abducted her. The Lepakshi temple complex also has idols of Lord Shiva, Vishnu, Papanatheswara, Raghunatha, Rama and other deities. Posting pictures of him offering prayers at the temple PM Modi wrote on X, “For all those who are devotees of Prabhu Shri Ram, Lepakshi holds great significance. The Prime Minister was also seen listening to hymns at the Veerbhadra temple in Lepakshi. Prior to visiting the Veerbhadra temple, PM Modi also visited Shree Kala Ram temple in Maharashtra's Nashik a few days back.
