Apple’s iOS 26.1 update is here: What’s new and all details
Apple officially releases the awaited iOS 26.1 update with expanded customisation features.
Apple officially released the anticipated iOS 26.1 update to compatible iPhone users with greater customisation support for Liquid Glass UI, expanded language support for Apple Intelligence, and other fixes. This is Apple’s first major software release after iOS 26 was rolled out in September 2025. Several reports suggest that iOS 26.1 consists of several user-request changes, and it primarily focuses on interface customisation. Therefore, if you are an iPhone user, here’s everything new you will get after installing the iOS 26.1 update.
 iOS 26. 1 update: What’s new
In September, Apple released the iOS 26 update with a major shift to the iPhone user interface with Liquid Glass design. Now, the tech giant has released its first major update, iOS 26.1, which brings new settings options, customisations, security updates, and more, enhancing the user experience. To install the new iOS 26.1, go to Settings > General. Next> Software Update > Update Now.
Here’s everything new coming with iOS 26.1 update:
- Liquid Glass setting: iPhone users can now adjust the translucency of the Liquid Glass UI in the Lock screen. Now, users will have two options to choose from: Clear or Tinted. While clear will be set as a default setting, the new tinted options will increase opacity in the lock screen and Notification Centre.
 - Automatically install security improvements: iPhones will now be able to install security improvements automatically with new security settings in iOS 26.1. Simply navigate to Settings > Privacy & Security > Background Security Improvements.
 - Live Translation languages: With iOS 26.1, Apple has also introduced new language support for the Live Translation feature. The new languages will now support Chinese (Mandarin, simplified), Chinese (Mandarin, traditional), Italian, Japanese, and Korean.
 - Alarm update: As anticipated earlier, Apple has introduced a new alarm snooze feature that makes it harder for iPhone users to turn off the alarm. Now, instead of clicking the stop button, users will have to swipe to stop the alarm.
 - New toggle that prevents the camera app from opening from the lock screen: iPhone users must be well aware of the swipe left feature to open the camera. However, a few instances lead to the accidental opening of the camera app. Now, Apple has introduced a new toggle feature where users can enable or disable the “Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera.”

While these are some major upgrades introduced with iOS 26.1, other features also include haptics control option for phone calls, a new local capture option in the camera, a new single-touch for sliding actions, and more.
