As Cyclone Ditwah devastates Sri Lanka, killing more than 150 people and displacing over 100,000, India has launched “Operation Sagar Bandhu,” rushing Indian Air Force aircraft, Navy assets, and over 20 tonnes of relief supplies plus NDRF teams to Colombo. Former Sri Lankan foreign and finance minister Ali Sabry has hailed New Delhi’s rapid response as a “template for regional cooperation,” saying India is once again proving its leadership in South Asia as IAF helicopters and INS Vikrant’s Chetak carry out dramatic airlifts of stranded families.
