Sri Lanka Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa withdraws from race for President. Sajith Premadasa, leader of the main Opposition party, said he'd back ex-minister & spokesman Dallas Alahapperuma, who was nominated by a breakaway faction of the ruling coalition. Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s ruling coalition is now fragmented, with other members backing acting president Ranil Wickremesinghe. Protesters are up in arms against Wickremesinghe as president. Angered by economic mismanagement, many Lankans see Wickremesinghe regime as an extension of the Rajapaksa rule.
