DGCA: Check fare on airline site, not search engine to avoid exaggeration

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued a travel advisory for passengers in the country, stating that airfares must be checked on websites of airlines, and not on metasearch engines, as the latter may show 'exaggerated' prices. DGCA said that those travelling to foreign destinations must not rely on metasearch engines as at times these 'do not reflect actual point-to-point fare and do make combinations of multiple airlines and end up with an exaggerated figure'. This comes after IAS officer Sanjeev Gupta tweeted about Google Travel showing a British Airways flight from Delhi to London on August 26 worth ₹3.95 lakh. Watch the full video for more.
