Rodrigo Paz has been elected the new President of Bolivia, defeating conservative rival Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga in the country’s presidential runoff. Paz, a senator from the Christian Democratic Part, won amid Bolivia’s worst economic crisis in a generation. But with no legislative majority, Paz now faces the challenge of forging alliances to govern effectively.
