Putin unveils submarine to carry nuclear tsunami-causing drone: US panic grows

Russia has unveiled its new nuclear submarine ‘Khabarovsk’, designed to carry the Poseidon nuclear-powered underwater drone reportedly capable of triggering “massive radioactive tsunamis”. The ceremony in Severodvinsk was attended by top Russian defense officials, days after President Vladimir Putin announced a “hugely successful” Poseidon test on October 28. Earlier, Moscow also tested the Burevestnik nuclear-powered cruise missile, said to travel over 14,000 km and stay airborne for nearly 15 hours. Together, the missile, drone, and submarine form Russia’s new “nuclear triad.” The tests come amid stalled Ukraine peace talks and as U.S. President Donald Trump vows to restart nuclear weapons testing, citing strategic rivalry with Russia and China. Trump criticized Putin’s tests as “inappropriate,” while the Kremlin dismissed talk of an arms race. The developments highlight rising nuclear tensions as the New START treaty nears its 2026 expiry.
