Paralympics: India's 1st Gold by Avani in shooting; Silver in discus by Yogesh

- Avani Lekhara won India's first medal in shooting at the Tokyo Paralympics. Avani bagged a Gold in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 event on Monday. PM Narendra Modi took to Twitter & lauded the India shooter for her performance. Avani won the gold medal with a total score of 249.6 in the final, equalling the world record. This is India's fourth medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games so far. Meanwhile, India's Yogesh Kathuniya won Silver in the men's Discus throw (F56) event.Yogesh registered his best throw of 44.38m in the final at the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics. PM Modi also congratulated Yogesh for his achievement on Twitter. Yogesh was only bested by Brazil's world-record holder Batista dos Santos Claudiney. Batista registered a throw of 45.59m to win the gold medal at the Games. This is India's fifth medal at the Tokyo Paralympics so far.
