Maldives To Expel Indian Soldiers? Modi Govt Reacts To Threat By Pro-China President-Elect Muizzu

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that India looks forward to engaging the new Maldives government on “all issues”. Bagchi said this in response to a question regarding Maldivian President-elect Mohamed Muizzu’s statement that Indian military personnel would be asked to leave the islands as soon as he officially becomes president next month. Bagchi said, "As neighbours, we need to collaborate closely to address the challenges confronting our region, such as transnational crimes and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief."
