Who is David? Unidentified bearded man caught cheering during Charlie Kirk's horrific assassination breaks silence
An unidentified bearded man who seemed to be applauding at a Utah Valley University event shortly after Charlie Kirk was shot has now taken to social media to explain his actions.

The video, which was taken from live TV feeds and extensively circulated on social media, depicts a young man wearing a black T-shirt and a backward baseball cap raising his hands in the air and yelling, "USA! USA! USA!" just seconds after Kirk, 31, was shot in the neck by a sniper during a debate on campus.
The video immediately went viral on social media, where users referred to it as “psychotic” and unsettling. One X user commented, “This guy happens to know where the shooter was and is looking back, cheering him on after the lifeless body of Charlie Kirk has fallen to the ground.”
Charlie Kirk murder: David speaks out after outrage on his viral video
Claiming to be David on X, he asserted that he was not enjoying the carnage, maintaining that he was chanting “USA” to divert attention and “save lives”.
David further talked about his initial reactions to the gunfire. In the viral video, he can be seen sporting what appears to be the identical tan backwards cap. “When I heard a sharp crack, at first I thought it might have been fireworks or a disruptive prank,” he continued.
He went to claim that he looked for smoke on the horizon but couldn't find any, so he realized it was a gunshot.
“I looked up to the horizon for smoke. When none appeared, I realised it must have been a firearm,” he clarified.
David found Kirk had been seriously injured based on his friend's response and he then “checked the security team's movement” out of reflex before getting to his feet.
“I would never wish to celebrate harm to anyone,” David continued, albeit acknowledging that he was only “minimally familiar with Kirk's content.”
David shares another emotional video
David later shared a longer and a dramatic video in which he called himself “the happiest person you ever met in your entire life” but bemoaned the constant derision of catastrophes of this nature.
“I’m sick of my soldiers, including Charlie, dying so you guys can mock each other. Mock, mock, mock,” he bemoaned.
David also criticized popular figures including Steven Crowder, John Oliver, and Matt Walsh, accusing them of being involved in "mockery … on both sides of the equation" that he feels is “killing my soldiers, my people.”
He did not, however, specify the identity of any “soldiers.”
Tyler Robinson identified as the suspect
The FBI identified 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a student from Utah, as the shooting suspect. Charlie was shot dead during a live Q&A session at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
Kirk, a close ally of Trump, founded the organization Turning Point USA and is renowned for his conservative remarks.
