Janmashtami 2023: The auspicious festival of Krishna Janmashtami is being observed by the Hindu community worldwide to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna. The ceremonies for Janmashtami began last night (September 6) at 11:57 PM and will conclude at 12:42 AM on September 7. Janmashtami 2022: Amitabh Bachchan to Kangana Ranaut, celebs extend wishes

Krishna Janmashtami, also referred to as Krishna Janmashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti and Sree Jayanti is being observed across the country today, August 19. Dahi Handi 2022: Country celebrates festival with great pomp and grandeur

The Dahi Handi festival, also called Gopalakala or Utlotsavam, is part of Krishna Janmashtami festival which is marked a day after Janmashtami. This year, it is being observed today, August 19. As part of the festival, youngsters (called Govindas), dressed in colourful attire, make human pyramids to reach an earthen pot containing buttermilk suspended mid-air, and break it. It symbolises victory through unity.(AFP)
