Dhankhar’s Blistering Attack On Supreme Court After Tamil Nadu Order: ‘Judiciary’s Nuclear Missile’

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on April 17 criticised the recent Supreme Court ruling that set a deadline for the President and Governors to clear bills passed by state governments. Dhankhar said we cannot have a situation where “you (judiciary) direct the President and on what basis”. Dhankhar also said Article 142 has become a “nuclear missile against democratic forces” available to the judiciary all the time. Dhankhar’s comments came after the Supreme Court last week termed Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi’s actions “illegal and arbitrary” after he refused to assent 10 bills passed by the state assembly for nearly 3 years.
