In a recent episode of Hindustan Times' The Interview with Kumkum Chadha, Babita Singh Chauhan, chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women's Commission, addressed the controversial advisory regarding the absence of male tailors, barbers, and gym trainers for women in the state. Responding to the inquiry, Chauhan emphasised that the advisory aims to enhance safety and comfort for women in public spaces. The Uttar Pradesh State Women's Commission has proposed a controversial measure aimed at enhancing women's safety by barring men from tailoring women's clothes, cutting their hair, or training them in gyms. The proposal, discussed during a meeting on October 28, includes recommendations for installing CCTV cameras in relevant establishments and ensuring that only female professionals attend to women in salons and gyms.
