Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed detailed discussions with the US on Trump's Ukraine peace plan—including during high-level meetings in Anchorage, Alaska—describing Moscow’s willingness to accept the core 28 points as the foundation for a possible final settlement. Putin revealed Russia showed “flexibility” after a US request for compromise and noted that numerous global partners, including China and India, were informed and supported the proposal. However, Putin asserted the plan's progress stalled after Kyiv and its European allies refused to accept territorial concessions and military reductions, which he claims are required for peace. Putin warned that Ukraine’s leadership is either misinformed about the battlefield or unwilling to accept realities, predicting repeated losses like Kupyansk unless Kyiv shifts strategy. Still, he insisted Moscow remains open to substantive negotiation if Ukraine and the US discuss the new draft in detail, warning “the door for peace talks is open, but battlefield realities will shape the outcome.”
