UK hit by Russia bribery row amid Trump's peace deal bid: Farage's party under lens as ex-MEP jailed

As tensions rise across Europe and the Ukraine war enters a critical phase, a major political scandal has erupted in the UK. Former Reform UK Wales leader and ex-MEP Nathan Gill has been jailed after admitting to taking bribes for making pro-Russian statements inside the European Parliament. According to reports, Gill accepted tens of thousands of pounds to deliver statements that aligned with Kremlin messaging on Ukraine, both in Brussels and on a pro-Russian Ukrainian TV channel. Prosecutors say he also coordinated efforts for other MEPs to echo similar narratives, though no evidence shows they received money. Gill’s arrest and guilty plea have triggered turbulence for Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who is now facing pressure from the UK government to investigate alleged pro-Russia links within his party. The revelations arrive as Western unity on Ukraine remains under strain, sharpening fears of deeper foreign interference across Europe.
