Paris protesters decry Macron’s Ukraine troop plan ahead of key confidence vote

Hundreds rallied in Paris against President Macron’s plan to send French troops to Ukraine, with protesters led by The Patriots party chief Florian Philippot demanding “Macron out,” “Frexit,” and an end to NATO’s “warmongering.” Philippot warned that post-conflict troop deployments could drag France into war, endanger soldiers, and serve only elite interests. The protests come ahead of a crucial September 8 confidence vote that could topple the French government. Macron insists most coalition partners have agreed to send troops after a peace deal, while Putin threatens any NATO soldiers in Ukraine will be “legitimate targets.”
