PM Modi’s first Ethiopia visit turns special, Nobel laureate PM Ahmed takes wheel himself

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm and historic welcome as he arrived in Ethiopia for the first-ever visit by an Indian PM to the East African nation. Nobel Peace Prize-winning Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed personally received PM Modi in Addis Ababa and later drove him to his hotel, making an unexpected cultural detour to the Science Museum and park. The two-day state visit marks a significant milestone in India–Ethiopia relations, highlighting growing diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. Traditional Ethiopian rhythms and ceremonies set the stage for high-level talks and strengthened bilateral cooperation.
