Orange Cap in WPL 2026
The WPL Orange Cap is the season’s live badge for the tournament’s leading run-scorer, updated after every match and worn by the batter sitting atop the runs chart at that moment. It is not a subjective “form” award: it is strictly the most runs in the season, so durability, consistency and the ability to convert starts are just as valuable as one headline knock. If two or more players are level on runs, strike rate is the first tie-breaker; if strike rates are also identical, the batter with fewer innings played gets priority.
What makes the Orange Cap race addictive in WPL’s compact schedule is how fast it swings. One 70-plus in a chase can launch a player up the list, while two quiet nights can wipe out a lead.
Across the first three WPL seasons, the Orange Cap has captured three very different batting stories. Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals) won it in 2023 with 345 runs, setting the early benchmark for consistency at the top. Ellyse Perry (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) claimed the cap in 2024 with 347 runs, combining volume with match-shaping control through the middle overs. And in 2025, Natalie Sciver-Brunt (Mumbai Indians) blew the race open with a record 523 runs, the biggest Orange Cap tally the league has seen so far.
In a short-format league, the Orange Cap doesn’t just reward one big night, it rewards the batter who keeps scoring, keeps cashing in starts, and shows impeccable consistency.
