New MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips could debut soon
Apple may soon expand its MacBook Pro lineup, as reports hint at a late January launch for new M5 Pro and M5 Max models.
Apple may be close to revealing the next phase of its MacBook Pro lineup, as a new report points to a possible launch date later this month. According to industry reports, Apple could introduce MacBook Pro models powered by the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips on January 28. While the company has not shared any official details, the timing has drawn attention because it aligns with other recent Apple announcements and past launch patterns.
Possible January Launch Timeline
A report from Macworld suggests that Apple may choose January 28 to unveil the new MacBook Pro models alongside its recently announced Creator Suite subscription. The Creator Suite brings together tools such as Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro under a single plan. These apps serve users who rely on MacBook Pro systems for editing, music production, and similar work. Apple has previously launched software and hardware together when both target the same user base, which has added weight to the speculation.

The proposed date also fits Apple’s usual approach to product announcements. January 28 falls on a Wednesday, a day Apple has often selected for unveiling new hardware. According to the report, this pattern could indicate that Apple plans a broader update rather than limiting the day to a software release.
Apple started rolling out the M5 series in October 2025, when it introduced a 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the standard M5 chip. That model focused on changes related to on-device processing, graphics handling, and the Neural Engine. However, Apple did not update the 16-inch MacBook Pro at that time, nor did it announce versions using the M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. As a result, the lineup has remained incomplete for users waiting for higher-tier options.

What the New Models Could Offer
If the January 28 launch takes place, Apple may fill that gap. Reports suggest the company could introduce a 16-inch MacBook Pro running on the M5 chip for the first time. In addition, Apple may release both 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models equipped with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. These versions are expected to offer gains in CPU and GPU output compared to the standard M5, without a shift to a new chip design approach.
In India, the current 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip carries a starting price of Rs. 1,69,900 and ships with macOS Tahoe. A refresh featuring M5 Pro and M5 Max options would likely expand choices for buyers who want higher performance within the MacBook Pro range.
