German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has called on European countries to classify Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation, citing weeks of deadly protests across Iran that have reportedly killed more than 2,400 people, with thousands arrested and many facing capital punishment. Addressing the Bundestag in Berlin, Dobrindt said Europe must clearly regard the IRGC as a “terror militia”, adding that German authorities are intensifying monitoring of individuals and networks linked to the group. His remarks come amid growing international concern over Iran’s crackdown on protesters demanding relief from soaring inflation and currency devaluation.
